At Carnegie Hill Pediatrics we provide a comprehensive range of services to address the needs of children from birth through young adulthood. Our experienced and skilled medical team offers consultations on preventive care, diagnosis, and treatment for a broad range of infectious diseases that are caused by bacteria, fungi, parasites, or other rare infections.
An infectious disease consultation addresses acute and chronic infections in both an office and inpatient hospital setting. Among the many serious, complicated or atypical infectious diseases that we see are the following:
- Lyme disease
- Recurrent skin infections, including MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus)
- Prolonged or recurrent fever
- Infections that are unresponsive to treatment
- Infections in children who are immune compromised
- Travel-related infections
In treating infectious diseases in children, there are multiple considerations in care that differ from treating the very same diseases in grown-ups. For one thing, children can’t always express what is bothering them nor clearly explain their symptoms. Furthermore, with growing bodies, their medical needs sometimes differ from those of adults. At Carnegie Hill Pediatrics, we understand the unique medical needs of children as well as how to address their discomfort with the compassionate and gentle child friendly care they require.
Remember, if you are planning on traveling abroad with your family, please consult our office about any immunizations or precautions that may be needed to protect your child’s health in advance of your trip.
